Vehicle Description This 2001 BMW Z8 is finished in red over black leather and powered by a 4.
9-liter V8 paired with a six-speed manual transmission.
Additional equipment includes a removable hard top, a black soft top, staggered-width 18 forged wheels, neon turn signals and taillights, and heated power-adjustable seats.
The car was sold new by BMW of Darien, Connecticut, and later spent time in New York and South Carolina before we acquired it in February 2021.
Subsequent work included refinishing the front bumper cover as well as replacement of the headlight assemblies, windshield, coolant temperature sensor, and thermostat.
This Z8 has 26k miles and is offered in Connecticut with its original sales invoice, manufacturer's literature, a tool kit, car and top covers, a hardtop stand, service records, a clean Carfax report, and a clean South Carolina title.
The Z8 was designed by Henrik Fisker as an homage to the 507 model of the 1950s, and this example is finished in Bright Red (Hellrot 314), 1 of only 291 Red Z8's produced.
Details include neon turn signals and taillamps, kidney grilles with integrated fog lights, chrome side vents and mirror housings, and dual exhaust outlets.
Both xenon headlights were replaced in April 2021 along with the windshield and the left rocker cover.
The front bumper cover was also refinished, and the body-colored hardtop received a new headliner.
Paint meter readings are available and shows that the car still carries its original paint.
Split-spoke 18 wheels feature BMW roundel center caps and wear Bridgestone Potenza RE-040 tires measuring 245/45 up front and 275/40 out back.
Standard equipment for the Z8 included aluminum suspension components, Dynamic Stability Control, Dynamic Brake Control, and All-Season Traction.
The cockpit is trimmed in black leather with piano black accents as well as matching carpets and floor mats.
Amenities include heated and power-adjustable seats, a power-operated soft top, a banjo-spoke steering wheel, and stitched roll hoop upholstery.
The central instrument panel houses a 155-mph speedometer, a tachometer with a 7k-rpm redline, an analog clock, and gauges for fuel level and coolant temperature.
The odometer shows 26k miles.
The 4.
9-liter S62 V8 was shared with the contemporary E39 M5, and was factory rated at 394 horsepower with 368 lb-ft of torque.
A Performance Package strut tower brace and upper strut mount reinforcements were installed in April 2021.
An oil change was also performed and the water temperature sensor, thermostat, and coolant replaced.
Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
Additional underside images can be viewed in the gallery.
The original sales invoice from BMW of Darien, Connecticut, lists a total price of $142,537 in 2001.
Owner's manuals are housed in a Z8-branded leather case.
Also included in the sale are a spare key, a fitted car cover, a hardtop stand and cover, and service records.
