0 Brookfield, CT Brookfield, CT Full-time Full-time $25 - $30 an hour $25 - $30 an hour 16 hours ago 16 hours ago 16 hours ago Brookfield Public Schools is looking for an Excellent, Full Time Human Resources & Benefits Coordinator at its Central Offices The Human Resources and Benefits Coordinator is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the human resources department, including group benefits programs (medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, worker's compensation, life insurance, flexible spending plan, and the student insurance plan).
The human resources and benefits administrator must manage the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs while ensuring excellent customer service to employees through a variety of ways, including but not limited to recruitment, hiring/onboarding, teacher certification, benefits, compensation, leaves of absence and employment.
The Human Resources and Benefits Coordinator reports to the Human Resources Supervisor.
Under direct supervision of the HR Supervisor, job responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Ensures compliance with applicable government regulations Ensures timeliness and accuracy of required filings Maintains recruiting and staffing logistics Maintains employee files (physical and digital) Processes new hires, transfers, terminations, changes in job classifications, merit increases, etc.
Prepares and distributes annually, individual salary agreements for all employees including individual contract agreements for non-union staff Posts all vacancies on appropriate/relevant website and updates the personnel page of the district website as appropriate Monitors unemployment claims by reviewing claims, substantiating documentation, Assists in managing staff evaluation platform Monitors teacher certifications in the district and ensures that the district is in compliance with all certification regulations, including compliance with requisite annual trainings (such as blood borne pathogens, mandated reporting, etc) Processes approved leaves of absence (LOA) in the district including the appropriate recording of long-term substitutes for LOAs with the SDE Works in close cooperation with the payroll department to assure that all situations requiring a change in staff salaries are addressed in a timely manner (new hirees, LOA, changes of degree, resignations, retirements, etc.
) Assists in organizing the new staff orientations, including certified staff at the beginning of each school year Responsible for confidential criminal backgrounds checks of all new hirees and volunteers, which includes but is not limited to the sex offender registry and DCF checks Handles all aspects of Aesop (Employee absences, Substitute Tracking and entry, etc.
), including end-of-year rollover Coordinates with substitute service on all aspects of Substitute hiring, onboarding etc.
Coordinate daily benefits processing Handle enrollments, COBRA, terminations, changes, beneficiaries, disability, and rollovers Oversee maintenance of employee benefits files Maintain group benefits databases Prepare regular benefits reports extracting data from the database Serves as primary contact for plan vendors and third-party administrators Coordinates transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and plan administration Works effectively to make sure the plans run smoothly.
Investigates discrepancies and provides information in nonroutine situations Evaluates and revises internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency Documents and maintains administrative procedures for assigned benefits processes Assumes such other tasks as may be assigned by HR Supervisor or Assistant Superintendent Required Skills & Experience - This is a 12 month position that requires strong organizational skills and a high level of confidentiality.
Strong candidates will also have the following:
Proficiency in using Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, Munis, and other appropriate software Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines Strong organizational skills Strong understanding of confidentiality Previous demonstrated experience with benefits management and/or human resources experiences within a school system preferred To be considered for this position, candidates must :
